I think we need a commercial break from these conversations about the leeches we are trying to avoid and the real men we desire....so here is a quickie comment about a cause I am really interested in sharing with my peeps...
I am putting this thought out there for all wine-lovers or wine gift-givers and the rest of you! There is a great wine, under $10,that actually has a great purpose. Goats Do Roam is a one of South Africa's best-selling wines and a popular but in other areas of overseas.
Now I am asking that we bring it to the table over here...and in a hurry!!!
I can speak for the red, personally. It is a delicious blend of seven different grapes, full-bodied and smooth. It's cheap. But most importantly, some of the profits from this wine (all, not just the red) go to an organization called Kids for Kids. Kids for Kids is helping to provide goats to families in Darfur, the battle-scarred region in Sudan where almost a quarter-million of the population has been killed and others are fleeing the country for safety.
Those that do remain, who may not have the resources to leave or would like to stay to fight for peace in their homeland...need our help.
If we can do something small, by supporting this one brand of wine for a little while....Shouldn't we do it without a question???
You can find this wine at Whole Foods (for all of you New Yorkers...there is a relatively new one located in Chinatown) and certain selected stores in the city. I posted a pic of the place I bought it from, right on 2nd Ave and 82nd Street. I picked up for a gathering at a friend's house...and they absolutely loved it!!!
So try it...
